Pago Pago
Pago Pago (pronounced Pango Pango) is located on the island of Tutuila. It is one of many villages along the shore of Pago Pago harbor and one of those must see ports! Be careful if you ask where abouts in Pago Pago a site may lie. The name “Pago Pago” refers to the harbour and the many villages near it just not the village itself!
Many travelers would not take a second glance at this port when reviewing the itinerary. Trust me when I say the serine, untouched nature of the islands beaches, peaceful bays and magnificent mountains will astonish and wow even the avid traveler.
This little piece of paradise has a population of less than 4000 Although small in nature, the town has modern touches , such as a couple of banks, convenience stores, restaurants and several fine hotels and inns. The local population is welcoming, and the culture one of a kind. If you’re enjoying a late afternoon drink and have a stroke of luck you will most likely encounter elders on the beach telling traditional stories in the humid air.
Scuba diving and snorkeling are a must. Pago Pago harbour has a collapsed volcanic centre full of various colourful fish species and unique geology.
CruisePlus Tip #1 The official currency is the US dollar.

Fa'alifu Fa'I: Coconut-Banana Dip
I tried this recipe tonight and it was fantastic! Serve Warm.
1 green banana
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 medium onion, chopped into long pieces
Salt, to taste
In a medium saucepan,
Place the banana (peeled) in a medium saucepan and cover with water. Bring the water to a boil and cook until the banana is soft but not falling apart. Drain the water. Add the coconut milk and onion, and bring to a boil again, then lower the heat. Mash up the banana with a fork while you simmer the mixture over medium heat. When it has reached a thick, dip-like consistency, remove from heat, sprinkle with salt, and serve.
