Alaska is a very popular destination for many reasons: our West coast clients in the Vancouver and Seattle areas find it a convenient holiday destination that doesn’t require any flying or driving and its summer season and short itineraries dovetail nicely with school holidays and make for a great cross-generational holiday opportunity. Many of our clients have made this a repeat destination for one of those reasons… but if you’ve done Alaska for a few years, you’ve probably think you’ve seen all there is to see … not so fast!

An Alaska cruisetour is the perfect way to really see this destination in depth. Trust me when I say with 586,412 square miles of territory, there is a lot to see!  Some of the most famous and prominent features of “The Great Land” are located inland and in combining a one-way cruise with a land tour, you’ll experience much more of what Alaska has to offer.  To give you an idea of the size, here are a few fast facts.  Did you know for instance that Alaskahas more than three million lakes? Marshlands and wetland permafrost cover 188,320 square miles and glacier ice covers some 16,000 square miles of land. The Bering Glacier complex near the southeastern border with Yukon covers 2,250 square miles alone. Alaska has half of the world's glaciers: there are more than 100,000 of them.  In getting into the heart of the Alaskan wilderness in a dome rail viewing car, you will have the opportunity to see more of the majestic mountains, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking glaciers that make Alaska such an incredibly beautiful place to visit.  There are millions of acres of dedicated parkland in Alaska and some of the most incredible vistas on the planet, including Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America.

All of the major cruiselines including Holland America, Princess and others offer a huge variety of cruisetour options to choose from, so you have plenty of ways to make the most of your Alaska vacation.  Contact one of our cruise consultants to find out more about an Alaska cruisetour vacation!

CruisePlus Tip: We recommend that you do the land portion first and the cruise portion last. That is because the land tours require early mornings and it is great to have time on the cruise to relax and arrive home refreshed.
