There's Just Something about Singapore

Population: 5,000,000

This city has some serious bragging rights. Not only is Singapore the world’s 4th leading financial centre, 4th wealthiest country in the world, and it boasts the best quality of life in Asia!
Singapore is a multicultural city with a large population of Chinese, Malay, and Indian people to name a few. It has 4 official languages (English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil), however English is the working language…this makes it a little easier to get around if you are not well versed in any foreign languages.
Singapore is an independent city-state off the coast of Malaysia that just really hits the nail on the head when it comes to knowing how to show people a good time. The city is admired by many of us at CruisePlus and come highly recommended. It’s a great place for a family vacation, for a romantic getaway or for exploring.
It’s no secret that Singaporeans are passionate and bout food and shopping. Foodies can delight in the excitement of the city’s many restaurants; some are even open 24 hours so late night snackers can rejoice! The best part about a multicultural city has to be the marriage of intercultural food fusions. Two of the most popular foods are satay and roti prata; an Indian dish similar to a pancake that can be eaten dressed with garlic, curry, chocolate or bananas to name a few…seems versatile to me!
If you are a shopper, you’ll want to concentrate on some specific areas that will offer the best rewards! Looking for high end boutiques? Take a stroll down to Orchard Road all the way through to the Marina Square shopping complex. Want something more unique and interesting? Try Little India and Chinatown to find some great pieces with cultural style!
Singapore is also full of family activities including a Universal Studios park, Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon where the kids can marvel in learning about marine life.
Being a city located near the equator with tropical sunshine and ample rain, Singapore boasts wonderful flora that can be admired at many locations including the Singapore Botanic Gardens and many other garden locations throughout the island.
Just a few weeks ago an email actually went around the office that we all gawked at displaying an engineering marvel that made us all say “I want to go there!”. What was this structure? It was actually the marina Bay Sands Hotel and its impressive Sands Sky Park. The sky park is a +12,000 sq ft park that spans atop of 3 of the hotel towers, 200 meters high. From up above, patrons can swim in a 150 foot infinity pool that overlooks all of Singapore! It actually looks slightly crazy because the pool looks like it continues right over the edge of the hotel! Hundreds of people flock here every day to enjoy the views (it’s okay, it can accommodate some 3000 people so it won’t feel crammed).
A little fact for you: be very careful chewing gum in Singapore as there are laws against “improper disposal”. Luckily, this means you shouldn’t be stepping in any gum while you’ visit the fair city.
If you’re looking for an exciting place to visit in Asia, don’t shy away from this wonderful city that will leave you wanting to come back over and over again.
