April 22 shore excursion in Madeira, Portugal
Today we arrived to Madeira, Portugal! So exciting! We docked at around eight and we were off the ship at eight thirty. We got off the ship then boarded the buses. On our tour we went to Eira do Serrado which is this huge mountain on the top of the island.
It took fifty minutes to get up to the parking the place then you hike up 142 steps… The view was amazing! It was one thousand meters above sea level which is two times higher than the Malahat… Pretty high, huh? After that, we went back on the same road which is this tiny little twisty curvy one lane but sometimes two, road. No idea how they built it or how it is still there! At some parts there is nothing, absolutely nada concrete or wood or any fences blocking you from the 500-1000 meter drop. Creepy! We drove down that road just to when we got to the church there. Then we had to climb up more stairs to get there! It was really pretty and when we were in it I realized how many churches I’m going to be going to… Wow! There’s a lot.
We got in the buses and drove back into downtown Funchal, where we got in the wicker basket and went down throughout the city! They take your photo right when turn the corner and I have to say, everybody except me looks great Ha Ha!
... We finally went to an embroidery shop. Everything in their looked so pretty! We got back on the ship, had lunch and I wrote some postcards. Well my grandparents are going to wake up soon so bye!
xoxoxo,
Chloe!
